6 Reasons You Will Profit BIG with Photography In-Person Sales

Before the era of digitisation, photography in-person sales was the only way through which photographers could sell their photos. However, the ability to send digital files nowadays has created a huge gap between photographers and their clients.

The shoot-and-share process prevents photographers from harnessing their full potential as artists and clients from reaping the benefits of all the services photographers offer. Today, most photographers shy away from implementing in-person sales because they hate selling, talking about money and don’t want to look like “salesperson”.

However, in reality, this process is not just about sales. It revolves around converting your client’s photos into exceptional artwork and selling them gorgeous pieces they can cherish forever. The bonus – mastering the process of IPS photography means you work less, earn more and skyrocket your sales without ever being “salesy”.

Here’s why photography in-person sales will profit your business…

1. Loyal Long-Term Relationships With Clients

What makes in person sales so special and valuable is the emotional connection you build with your clients. You simply cannot create these relationships online. You close all doors of further communication with your client when you do the shoot and then send them an online gallery.

Instead, having your clients back for a Design Consultation means you carry that on, creating a deeper connection leading to lifetime clients. When your clients sit with you after the shoot for their Design Consultation, you have emotional conversations around each photo. You laugh together, there’s tears of happiness and true appreciation of what you captured of their family. The story behind each photo will always be in their memory.

When you revisit the memories together, you become an integral part of their journey. You connect with them and get to know your clients better beyond the day of the shoot.

Whenever they see those photos again, they will be reminded of you. They will always be more likely to book you again for a photoshoot than to hunt for another photographer. This will open the door to clients coming back again and again.

It’s all about connection. When they love YOU, they will love everything you do and never want to look anywhere else.

2. Influence Their Decisions

After you email your clients their photos, most do not know what to do with them or it’s a task that’s at the bottom of their list. All they do is revisit the photos a few times, and when the impact the images have on them begins to fade, the entire gallery rests in a storage device that never gets to see the sun again.

However, in-person sales allows you to motivate your clients to buy prints or finished artwork from you. Your clients have no idea what they want or the endless possibilities you can create for them. When you design and discuss what you can create for them with their photos, they will feel special and be excited.

The idea of designing photos into an album, creating wall art, or hanging a canvas of their best photo from the shoot in their bedroom means you are giving them every opportunity to buy from you. This way, you not only make room for more sales but also add value to your clients.

3. Decisions Made On The Spot & Orders Finalised

When your clients are left with too many photos in a gallery to choose from, they procrastinate in making decisions. Most of the time, the massive number of photos overwhelms them, and they need to either “think” or “come back to it”. Therefore, decisions are not made and you are left following up with orders sitting in the waiting pile.

We can all do this… How many times have you put emails on the back burner?

However, during a Design Consultation, you help in choosing their photos as a tea, and are ready with samples and display pieces to show your clients what they can have in their home. Your clients can visualise designs and artwork in their own home by displaying products you offer and different sizes.

In this process, with your EXPERT help, clients make decisions and know at that appointment to place their orders. IPS photography is all about designing and showing your clients what is possible. Your clients pay in full when they order and you never have to chase money again.

5. Keep Opportunities Open For Sales

With the shoot-and-share strategy, emailing the gallery marks the end of the story. You ask them to select a package and choose 10 or 20 photos etc. and that’s it. You are sabotaging and capping your sales. You can never earn more than that set price and take away the opportunity for your clients to buy more from you.

However, when you meet your clients in person after their photoshoot, there is an endless opportunity for sales. You give your clients every opportunity to buy from you by creating endless designs and artwork for them.

6. Referral Work

In-person sales help you convert your photos into beautiful finished artwork. This means your clients are showcasing your gorgeous work in their home… which means a source for referral work!

Anyone who walks into their home will see your work, be memorised and ask, “who is the photographer”. Having your photos and artwork in your clients homes means everyone sees who you are!

And most of the time the people in their homes are going to be your target audience too. They are more likely to book you because you were referred to them. Whereas when clients select digital files that’s all they are. Digital files.
